THIRD QUARTER? ALMOST DONE

Spring quarter 2019 began with Andrew picking me up from the train station. My birthday was in a couple days, and we always celebrate our brothers. While I don't have a picture, he took me and Alida (later pictured) to Din Tai Fung for a nice, hearty meal. Attached is a photo of the food that my family sent me back to school with.

This photo was taken over spring break, since my sister lives in Urbana-Champaign now for her graduate degree. I was planning on coming to visit and surprise my high school friends, but my parents also wanted me and my sister to celebrate our birthdays together. This was also the day they surprised Diana with her dream house.

While this photo doesn't feature all of Immanuel Presbyterian Church, no words can't begin to describe how much both the Korean and English Ministry has crafted me into who I am. They pushed me into Korean school as a child (in turn making me "half Korean"), supported me through all my struggles, and gave me numerous opportunities to serve and develop as a leader in the church and out on the mission field. Numerous times I backed out of going to church with my friends as a child, but I followed Samuel to IPC in the sixth grade (when it was a way different place), and I just kept going. God sure does work in mysterious ways. *I was fortunate enough to come back during a time when we had an EM meeting. It was great to catch up with these old friends again.*

Mama Bear Dianne invited me and old Jonathan out to her friend's birthday party because we had the "chill" pass and they needed more guys for their tournament. It was really cool to be part of a 90s theme potluck volleyball tournament birthday party... and being the only person there not born in the 90s.

In the past, I was never able to donate blood because I usually needed to drive home immediately after, which wasn't considered safe in high school. Also, there was one time I had my blood drawn for a cholesterol test and I fainted, almost suffering a concussion. However, Ryan convinced me to be their marketing representative and donate blood. I looked like a sickly old man because the first pint they drew was a bad needle so they used my other arm too, but I donated, and will continue to do so!

This photo was taken at Grace's birthday party at the Golden Gardens Beach! Oh my that beach was the most beautiful park I have ever been to. I also got to start a fire! Gracie has always been someone very special to my time at UW, and I can wish her only the best. This quarter, I started growing especially close to my friends in Washington, and began having genuine conversations with them.

Gracie!

They say bronze medalists are happier than the silver medalists on the podium. This team of 4s stomped through every game until a close one in the very end, where we barely lost to the second place team. Featured are Dianne, Jonathan, Ryan, and Kaylyn. It was so much fun to play with this team, but it was also a good lesson about not getting too fired up in game!

To close out the year, we had one final get together volleyball game to celebrate our graduating seniors. How would the freshmen fare vs the not freshmen? We barely lost in the 3rd set 27-25. This friend group was crafted over the year, and slowly grew into my closest friends over time.

STRANGE EVENTS OF THE QUARTER

One of the nicest parts of this quarter was working with Dr. Andrea Arai again. In autumn quarter she always pushed me to be a better student, dive deeper, and always ask questions. This project "Mixed Race Art" was one of my proudest works and we earned 100% on this presentation. Those sleepless nights working on this research were completely worth it if it impressed Dr. Arai and her colleagues.

VOLLEYBALL PROGRESS

My time in college, I've been trying to focus on improving my volleyball game, particularly my shoddy hitting form and my vertical because one time senior year, my father asked me if I could still get off the ground. So after losing all this weight, and more consistently hitting the gym, I've decided to document this journey.

Midway through Autumn Quarter. I think the net is low too.

Beginning of Winter Quarter. I think the net is close to men's but not quite.

End of Winter Quarter. Full men's height net. Still need to hit harder and jump higher.

End of Spring Quarter. Looking better, jumping higher, still need to hit harder.

MNPQ (MEANINGFUL NEW PEOPLE OF THE QUARTER)

Spring quarter was a fun quarter, despite numerous struggles that affected my classes. We always appreciate growing closer to Seoyoung, and talking to Sammy again, but this quarter I grew closer to Kaylyn and Gracie!

SPRING QUARTER REFLECTION

I don't have a reflection for this quarter, since I made this one kind of late.
