The Best Summer Maybe?

Summer Time
SUMMER SUMMER SUMMER

The beginning of my summer was headed by a spontaneous road trip to Minnesota! Dan, DP, Heather, and I decided to embark on a short trip and explore the country. There we had a great time, exploring many famous locations, and making our 1 year, 5 year, and 10 year predictions for one another.

Long story short. Sam suffered a concussion trying to do a backflip off a pole. He ended up being unable to recall any memory, so I decided to take him to the hospital with his dad and sister. The next morning he was feeling better, thank goodness.

Concussions...

This picture was taken at an American-Mexican fusion restaurant that one of our customers managed. They gave us $100 in credits to eat here, so my parents decided to go with me before I left for missions. It was the first time the three of us sat down together for a family dinner in a very long time, although we were missing Diana.

This photo was taken in Nicaragua with IPC and was the first week of missions that I embarked on, followed by Inner City Impact with Calvary Presbyterian Church. This trip to Nicaragua was one of the most challenging, since me and the senior pastor were the only returning members on a team of 6 people. Never before have I danced, sang, and spoke much Spanish, and yet still had much more ground to cover. The time on missions is always a good time though, and I never run out of energy to serve.

In preparation for missions with IPC, we wanted to bake cookies and a small gift to thank our church for the support. However, no one was available to bake, so they turned to the young boys to bake the cookies. IPC has brought out the best in me in many different situations... and this was no exception. Fortunately the cookies were well received!

After returning from missions (with a really bad farmers tan), DP and I took the time to visit our church at the annual summer retreat to encourage our kids and see how they were doing. I couldn't serve at this retreat because of a situation at the restaurant, but it was great to see our church grow as a family.

My cousins played huge roles in making me the man I am today. I grew up with them, learned from them, and even now we always make it a point to schedule a time to get together and hang out. When I was younger, we always played video games, but now we're just old adults sitting at a mahjong table playing board games. They're also all dating now, which is surprising. I've never seen such a stoic man like Kenji have such emotion towards a girl.

MNPQ (MEANINGFUL NEW PEOPLE OF THE QUARTER)

This summer, post-missions, I grew especially close to the members of Calvary Church. Pastor Dan was always there for me since 2016, as a spiritual father, but this time around, I finally got to have that heart-to-heart time with Sam Hwang before he went off to YWAM. This also includes a summer spent hanging out with David An!
